Their coats are short, coarse hair that can come in combinations of solid white colors and combinations of white with patches of red, tan, brindle and fawn.

Temperament: They are dominant by nature so need an assertive master but are very lovable and good family dogs. Although they may be stubborn during training they are wonderful pets for the active family. They may not know their own strength though, so should be monitored around small children. They are very loyal.
Special Traits: The American Bulldog is a very strong worker but loyal companion that can be a great addition for an active single or family. There are two distinct strains of American Bulldogs, Classic and Standard which is often mistaken for the American Pit Bull Terrier, its cousin.
Other Important Info: They can occasionally have a problem with hip dysplasia. They may not be good with cats and smaller animals unless they are socialized with them at a very early age.
